Last week, Little League International announced that the 2020 World Series and Region Tournaments will be cancelled this year. In addition, Virginia State Little League has announced that all Virginia State Tournaments will also be cancelled. This is not surprising due to the complex challenges with gathering large groups in the time of social distancing and limitations on travel within and outside of the country.
However, Little League has announced that local leagues may move forward with plans to begin the season in accordance with state and local guidelines. As a result, Great Falls Little League will continue to monitor the regulations and guidelines set forth by the state of Virginia and Fairfax County in order to establish a plan for Return to Play.
If and when we are granted the authority to utilize fields and resume youth sports play, we intend to do so. We do not anticipate this to happen until after June 10th, at the earliest. More likely, it will be further into the summer, hopefully by July 1st. We will be formulating guidance and procedures to ensure a safe environment for our players, volunteers, and fans.
We understand that moving the season into some unknown time in the summer will be prohibitive for some of our families. In addition, we acknowledge that each family will have a different comfort level with their children resuming sports activities. As a result, we are asking EVERY FAMILY REGISTERED FOR THE SPRING 2020 SEASON to complete the following formin order to provide us with information that will aid us in planning future baseball and softball activities.
Please complete this form by Wednesday, May 13, 2020:

For those who do not plan to resume play when we are given the green light, please hold tight for the time being. We have been working with our technology partner, Sports Connect, to define registration cancellation procedures and options. As soon as we have the system prepared with these options, we will let everyone know.
Little League has a tradition of community building, sportsmanship enrichment, skill development and a whole lot of fun. We truly hope you will join us on the fields when we are able to play again.
Thank you for your patience these last few weeks as we have waited for guidance from Little League. We join you in the disappointment that we have felt with the loss of our normal routines and the loss of team sports for our kids. We will be back on the fields at some point and we hope you will join us when the time is right.
Many thanks,
Great Falls Little League
