A A P I T C H I N G R U L E S
The following is the text of the new regular season local pitching rules for AA Minors. Please note that this local rule is in fact more restrictive than the official Little League pitching rules.
| # of Pitches Thrown in a Day |
Required Rest Period |
| 61 or more |
Three (3) calendar days of rest
and next game |
| 41 - 60 pitches |
Two (2) calendar days of rest
and next game |
| 21 - 40 pitches pitches |
One (1) calendar days of rest |
| 1 - 20 pitches pitches |
May pitch next day |
Maximum pitches for 9-10 year olds is 75, 7-8 year olds it is 50. When they reach their limit they may finish that batter, but then must be moved to another position.
A pitcher may only pitch 2 innings maximum per game, and 4 innings maximum per week (Monday-Sunday).
So, at the beginning of a game a player is either eligible to pitch or ineligible. He is ineligible if he pitched the prior day, or if he is in a rest period of 1-3 days as above. At the exchange of batting order managers are responsible for reporting pitching eligibility. Also, in a 3 game week it is possible that a pitcher is eligible, but has only 1 inning of eligibility so this should be disclosed.
Please note that any pitch in an inning constitutes an inning. So, if Johnny starts the game, pitches to 2 batters in the 2nd, and is relieved by Spike in the middle of the inning, who also pitches the 3rd inning each pitcher has used 2 innings.
Additionally, once a player has thrown a pitch he may not play the position of catcher. So, you can go from catcher to pitcher, but not pitcher to catcher.
Also, once a pitcher comes out he may not be reinserted as pitcher.
