Welcome to the Players/Parents area of the Great Falls Little League Web Site. Please return here for news and information pertaining to the upcoming season. Also please review the various resources we have highted below and on the links on the left-hand menu.
Volunteers Needed
GFLL, like any other Little League, would not be able to function without volunteers. From parents who either manage or coach, help maintain the fields, keep standings and scoring, maintain web sites, man the snack shack, maintain equipment, run tryouts, create schedules... the list just goes on and on. Learn more about volunteering...
New Local AA Minors Rules
One key goal of AA ball is to give younger players as much experience as possible to help prepare them to play at the next level. As a result, the GFLL has adopted a no walk rule for its AA program. In addition, the AA program has more stringent local pitching rules for its pitchers to adhere to.
17 Rules Myths
Take a moment to check out the 17 Rules Myths about baseball play calling, that every player, parent, manager and coach should review... they are quite illuminating!
Player Committment
Great Falls Little League is committed to ensuring that players:
- Develop an appreciation for athletic competition through participation;
- Practice sportsmanship and fair play; and
- Learn baseball skills, rules, and strategy.
To achieve these goals, it is essential that players pay attention to their manager and coaches, take an active part in practices and games, and strive to do the best that they can do to perform what the manager and coaches ask of them.
Attendance at practices is extremely important. Managers and coaches provide instruction at practices that are essential to helping improve a players performance which directly impacts their enjoyment of the game. Practices are also where a manager determines the skill and the range of positions a player can play during games.
By joining a team, the player makes a commitment to the team, for the full season, to do his or her best, work at being a good sport, play fairly and safely, and help others to enjoy the game as much as they do.
Some General Guidelines For Parents
Parents are encouraged to help watch for safety problems during games and practices, and to help prevent injuries. This request specifically includes watching small children in the stands.
Parents are in a much better position to know the health of their youngster than the manager. If a player has any kind of injury, illness, ache, or pain, is unusually tired, or just does not feel well, the parent should bring it to the manager's attention before a game or practice.
Please be sure that your player is dressed warmly. From March through May, it can become quite chilly late in the day, and every player should have a sweatshirt to wear under the uniform as appropriate. Players should always bring a jacket to the game to wear while on the bench.
Parents are responsible for arranging timely transportation for their children to and from games and practices. Please respect the wishes of the manager with regard to arrival times for both games and practices, and notify the manager ahead of time if the child will be absent or late.
