Goal
Tee ball is an important part of the Great Falls Little League program. Its goal is to emphasize the positive playing effects that will directly affect the five and six year old players at this level. Using positive reinforcement, managers should develop basic baseball fundamentals and above all, ensure that the kid’s introduction into organized baseball is FUN! Although there is a tendency to keep score, there are NO recorded Wins or Losses at the T-Ball level. Accordingly, Managers are discouraged from keeping score.
Game Length
Three (3) innings. Each team will bat three times in the 3 inning game, regardless of score. This will maximize player participation.
Player Roster
Each attending player shall bat each inning and play every inning in the field. The pitching position must be rotated among a different player every inning. A player may play one inning maximum at pitcher and one inning maximum at first base. The (optional) catcher takes his normal position. An adult should be beside the catcher to place the ball on the tee for each batter. The catcher must wear a helmet. An additional fielder will play behind second base. The remaining roster players will play in the field at the discretion of the manager. Each player shall play an infield position at least one inning per game. The batting order of the players shall be rotated such that the first player in the lineup shall lead off the first inning, the fourth player shall lead off the second inning, and the seventh player shall lead off the third inning.
Base Stealing and Sliding
Leading off base, stealing bases and intentionally bunting are not permitted. Head first sliding is not permitted.
Foul Balls
A batted ball is considered foul if it does not travel 15 feet. An arc should be drawn on the infield prior to each game to show this distance.
On-field Coaches
The offensive team shall station two base coaches on the field during its time at bat, one occupying the first base coach’s box and one occupying the third base coach’s box. One or both coaches may be roster team members, or they may be adults – as long as one roster manager or coach is in the dugout at all times. The defensive team may station two roster adults in the field. Defensive team managers and coaches stationed in the dugout must remain in the dugout at all times unless time is out.
On-Deck Batters
Between Innings, the offensive team is allowed only ONE Batter with a Bat to be outside the dugout preparing to Bat.
Game Preparation
The home team is responsible for bringing the Tee, and lining the field if it is the first game of the day.
